New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has joined hands with IBM to impart a course on Artificial Intelligence (AI), an emerging computer science discipline, in class XI and XII.
The course will provide the students with an opportunity to learn and understand AI-based concepts and technologies that they already experience in their everyday lives to build a better world and be connected with the careers of tomorrow.
“AI readiness with an innovation readiness mindset can propel students to achieve limitless possibilities,” a CBSE note said.
The programme will be offered in three phases, covering both the teachers and students in selected schools in the cities of Delhi-NCR, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata.
It will begin with an orientation workshop for school principals and then followed by a teacher training programme on AI.
The AI-enabled programme will be organised in a few selected schools and conducted by IBM experts.
The selected top students and their teacher mentors will be provided opportunities to showcase their talent at various national events organised by CBSE. They will also participate at the “Activate AI summit” at UC Berkeley College of Engineering, California, USA in June 2020.
Earlier, CBSE had introduced AI as a skill subject for class IX and X along with a 12-hour ‘Inspire’ module
for class VIII.
