CBSE Opens Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme Application Window For Class 10 Students

Students who have secured at least 70% marks in CBSE Class 10 exam and fulfill other eligibility criteria are eligible for Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the application window for the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme 2025.

This scholarship is designed to support meritorious single girl students who have passed the CBSE Class 10 examination with at least 70% marks and are continuing their studies in Class 11 at CBSE-affiliated schools.

The application process for the CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship 2025 is now available online. Schools must also complete the online verification of applications.

Benefit details

The scholarship provides selected students with Rs 1,000 per month. This benefit is awarded for a maximum two years, thereby covering both Class 11 and Class 12.

The payment is made directly to the student through ECS or NEFT transfer, ensuring a transparent and hassle-free process.

Eligibility

The scheme is open only to single girl children of their parents.

Children born together, such as twins, are also considered under the single girl child category.

To be eligible, the student must have passed the CBSE Class 10 examination in 2025 with a minimum of 70% marks and must now be pursuing Class 11 and 12 in a CBSE-affiliated school.

The tuition fee in Class 10 should not have exceeded Rs 2,500 per month, while in Class 11 and 12 it should not be more than Rs 3,000 per month. For NRI applicants, the ceiling is Rs 6,000 per month.

The scheme is open to Indian nationals, though NRI students studying under CBSE are also eligible. Furthermore, the gross parental or family income should not exceed Rs 8 lakh per annum, as certified by a self-declaration of the parents.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online through the official CBSE scholarship portal, https://www.cbse.gov.in/cbsenew/scholar.html

Students need to fill in details regarding their personal profile, academic achievements, and school information. Along with this, the necessary documents need to be uploaded in the prescribed format.

Once the student has completed her application, it must be verified by the principal of the current school. The unverified applications will be rejected.

Documents required

Students need to upload certain documents online. These include an affidavit in the prescribed format declaring the single girl child status, a copy of the first quarterly fee slip of the current academic year attested by the principal, and an income certificate or a self-declaration that the gross annual family income does not exceed Rs 8 lakh.

Students also need to provide valid identification proof such as an Aadhaar card and details of their bank account to facilitate ECS or NEFT transfer of the scholarship amount.

Selection process

The selection of candidates under the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship is strictly merit-based.

Students who have secured at least 70% marks in their CBSE Class 10 examination and fulfill all other eligibility criteria will be considered.

For renewal, applicants must have been recipients of the scholarship in the previous year, obtained at least 70% marks in Class 11, and been promoted to Class 12.

The applications undergo a detailed verification process by the schools, and any discrepancy or failure to verify leads to rejection. Once awarded, the scholarship continues only if the student maintains good conduct, regular attendance, and academic performance.

The CBSE has made it clear that a scholarship once cancelled cannot be renewed under any circumstances, and the decision of the Board will remain final in all matters.
