CBSE Partners With ISTM To Launch Training of Trainers’ Certification Course

HYDERABAD: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has a has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM) under the Department of Personnel & Training, Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, for conducting a two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) certification course.

The development comes with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which stipulates mandatory 50 hours of continuous professional development for all teachers and head teachers.

The ISTM, which is known for its expertise in imparting core training skills which involves Direct Trainers Skil (DTS) and Design of Training (DoT), has designed the course by amalgamating the core components of the DTS and DoT and the Integrated Approaches to Child & Adolescent Development, said a statement issued by the CBSE.

The pilot programme of this course was launched at the ISTM academic block in New Delhi by CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh on August 23, 2024.

To achieve the goals of making India a developed nation by 2047 and improving the quality of education, the CBSE has undertaken this initiative. The CBSE said the initiative would go a long way in improving the training standards.

The CBSE has set a target to train around 15,000 Resource Persons (RPs) in several batches. The board will also cater to the training needs of 13 lakhs teachers in the schools affiliated to it through this trained pool of resource persons.

The CBSE said that the training would be provided free of cost. Participants will receive a certificate co-signed by CBSE and ISTM upon completion of the training.

The training will help in the development in the competency parameters—skilled, advanced and expert—envisaged in the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST), the board said.
