CBSE Urges IITs, IIMs To Prepare Content For Teachers, Students

IITs To Create And Share Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Questions On Any Subjects

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reached out to IITs, IIMs and IISERs to create e-content both for the benefit of students and teachers under the unique ‘Vidya Daan’ initiative.

The board on Wednesday issued a statement urging these prestigious institutes to support CBSE under the Vidya Daan 2 initiative, the launch of which was also announced in the communication.

Vidya Daan was rolled out in September this year to help schools and teachers in urban and rural areas have access to good quality e-content that can be used anytime, anywhere at no cost. Since then 6000 content have been prepared and uploaded on (www.diksha.gov.in/cbse). The content is also available in the Disha App. The content has been prepared for grades 6 to 10 for English, Hindi, Maths, Science, and Social Science subjects.

“CBSE has now decided to launch Vidya Daan 2.0 with an aim to enable students to better understand and apply their knowledge of the concepts and topics to life experiences and teachers to prepare better and teach better through activity and experiential-based teaching and learning”, the CBSE statement said.

It has prepared a panel of schools inviting them to express interest by December 23 to provide sample e-content to improve and/or replace existing e-content with high-quality content on Vidya Daan for Grades 1 to 12, the statement said.

CBSE will also recognise the effort of schools and teachers contributing to Vidya Daan by awarding certificates to schools or teachers and also giving weightage to Teacher for national awards such as CBSE teacher awards.

Urging the national institutes to also prepare content, CBSE in the statement said it has listed out the following topics which these institutes can prepare for the students and teachers. They are:

1. Experiential learning, competency-based content for Maths and Science for classes 1 to 12
2 Creating and sharing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions on any subject of classes 1 to 12
3. Conduct teachers’ training programme in association with CBSE
