Centre Mulls Opening Sainik Schools In Collaboration With Private Players, NGOs

Bhubaneswar: The Centre is planning to bring in a new scheme to set up Sainik Schools in partnership with NGOs, private schools and desirous state governments across the country.

Minister of State for Defence, Shripad Naik said in a written reply to a query from Kripanath Mallah and others in the Lower House of the Parliament on Wednesday.

The decision is aimed at providing better schooling opportunities by involving government/private schools/NGOs in ‘CBSE Plus’ type of educational environment. The contract will be in accordance with the Sainik School ethos, value system and national pride, said a PIB release.

It envisages enrolling existing/upcoming schools to be run on the lines of Sainik Schools curriculum. The schools are proposed to be affiliated to Sainik Schools Society. Detailed guidelines and requisite approval are at an advance stage, the PIB release further said.
