Kharagpur: The Centre has selected IIT Kharagpur for setting up of a Sophisticated Analytical and Technical Help Institute (SATHI) at a cost of Rs 125 crore.
The centre will support academic institutes, research establishments and industries, especially start-ups and manufacturing units for science-based entrepreneurships and start-ups in the country, an IIT Kharagpur statement said.
The start-ups and research establishments will be able to used the sophisticated instruments in few selected areas as the centre will support them with technology and infrastructure facility, Rabibrata Mukherjee, who is associated with the Centre said.
SATHI is an initiaite of the Department of Science and Technology.
“IIT Kharagpur will treat the SATHI Centre as its Social Scientific Responsibility (SSR) programme to promote the culture of science-based entrepreneurship and start-ups in the country, he added.
