Kolkata: In view of the spike in the COVID-19 cases in West Bengal and across the country, the state education department has decided to shut the doors again till further notice.
Schools have announced summer vacations from April 20 and teachers have been asked not to attend school.
Almost after 11 months of closure, schools reopened for Classes IX to XII on February 12.
“Our school education department had allowed students to come to class in batches. However, during the election many schools were closed as they were taken up for election. Nevertheless, evaluating the current situation, we have decided to bring forward the summer vacation and asked all the schools to be closed from tomorrow until further notice. Notification regarding the same will be published soon,” West Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee said on Monday.
Board exams for Classes X (Madhyamik) and XII (Higher Secondary) are scheduled to begin from June 1 and June 15, respectively. The West Bengal government is yet to take a call on rescheduling or cancelling both the exams.
