Puducherry: In view of a massive upsurge in COVID-19 infections among the staff, students and faculty, the Pondicherry University on Thursday decided to shut the campus for five days — April 23 to 27.
The varsity issued a circular stating that the move is aimed at restricting the spread of the pandemic on the campus. However, essential services will remain normal during the period.
The authorities have asked all the PhD scholars and inmates of the varsity hostels to vacate the rooms by April 25 as the hostels will be non-functional from April 26.
