Critical Look Needed To Reevaluate Nation Exams Pattern: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik At NITI Aayog Meet
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday urged the NITI Aayog to conduct national-level examinations with a focus on equality for the selection of meritorious students.
Speaking at the virtual meeting of the NITI Aayog presided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, the CM said lakhs of young people appear for national-level examinations like UPSC, NEET, JEE, etc. every year. A critical look is needed to reevaluate the examination pattern for these prestigious and highly sought-after examinations, he added.
“Should not we have examinations that focus on equality and merit as opposed to examination patterns that are heavily dependent on highly paid coaching classes? The present pattern truly eliminates merit and denies justice to lakhs of our children who live in rural areas and do not have physical or economic access to coaching classes. The Niti Aayog should look into this very serious issue or else, in a few years, there will be serious distortions,” Naveen said.
