NEW DELHI: The Delhi government is planning to construct hostels for 10,000 students in the national capital. The move follows the seven deaths in the collapse of a five-storey building in Delhi’s Satya Niketan on September 6.
The government plans to include the facilities students need for a comfortable stay. The hostels are intended to help students who come to Delhi and need a safe place to live while studying.
The plan also aims to solve students’ issues over accommodation and food so they can focus on their education.
In a video shared on social media platform X, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the first phase of the project will provide fully equipped hostel facilities for 10,000 students, adding that work on the plan has commenced.
Rekha Gupta said students come to Delhi to study for a better future. The government aims is to provide them with a safe and supportive environment where they can concentrate on their studies without worrying about accommodation.
Initially, 10,000 students will be provided fully equipped hostel facilities by our government, and work towards this is already underway.
Every student who comes to Delhi carries a dream in their eyes, years of hard work behind them and the hopes of a family back home. Our endeavour is to give them a safe, supportive place to stay, so they can study with peace of mind and move closer to the future they came here to build.
