New Delhi: The Delhi University has postponed the term-end examinations till August.
According to a PTI report, the DU examination counsel informed the Delhi High Court, headed by Justice Pratibha M Singh, about its decision to postpone the final exams till August 15.
During the hearing, which was held via video conferencing, Justice Singh expressed her displeasure over the University’s decision and said, “Just see how you are playing with the lives of children. You were not fair with the court about your preparedness for holding the online examinations. You are saying you are ready, but the minutes of your meeting show the contrary.”
A group of final year DU students had filed a petition before the High Court for quashing and withdrawal of the notifications of May 14, May 30 and June 27 on online UG and PG exams.
The petitioners also sought for an alternative evaluation method based on previous semester results similar to that adopted by the university to promote the first and second-year students.
Delhi University had scheduled the final semester exams from July 1, but after protest from students, the dates were rescheduled to July 10.
