New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia, in an online panel organised by the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), said that the happiness curriculum of Delhi government schools, featured in Harvard University’s International Education Week, was aimed at developing the mindset of students, reported NDTV.
Invited as a guest speaker on the online panel discussion on “systematic social-emotional learning”, Sisodia said that the programme is aimed at the adoption of values rather than merely preaching them.
“The happiness curriculum is not a value education class that preaches moral values to students. Instead, it focuses on developing the mindset of the students to adopt the values in their everyday attitude and behaviour,” said Sisodia.
Discussing further on the need for socio-emotional learning programmes across global systems, he added that the happiness curriculum would aid children to “scientifically observe their emotions and understand them”, also saying that with a better understanding of their emotions, students “grow up to become better human beings”.
