Bhubaneswar: The State Mass Education Department of Odisha has decided to allow the students to appear for the examinations of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) from their home districts.
The students can apply through their District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) and can write the exams from their home districts, as per the education department sources.
The D.El.Ed students reportedly demanded online exams due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, the lack of proper infrastructure facilities, the education department has decided to take this step.
Samir Ranjan Dash, Minister of School and Mass Education, told the media, “The students had some issues with the examination as their main problem was to get rented houses during this pandemic period. We have allowed them to appear for the examination from their own districts and they have gladly agreed.”
He further added, “Online examination was not feasible and there was also a question mark about the sanctity of the examination. So we have taken a decision suitable for the students.”
The education board will conduct the exam in 80 centres across Odisha and students can choose their centres accordingly. Students can also sit for the examination in their schools and they can stay in the hostel.
The education department informed that they will soon release an official notification about the details of the examination.
