New Delhi: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) have launched a regular MTech programme in defence technology. The course is aimed at imparting necessary theoretical & experimental knowledge, skill and aptitude in various defence technology areas.
Secretary Department of Defence R&D & Chairman DRDO, Dr G Satheesh Reddy and AICTE Chairman Professor Anil D Sahasrabudhe jointly launched the programme during a virtual event organised by AICTE, New Delhi on Thursday, July 08. The course is expected to motivate aspiring engineers to start their careers in defence technology.
This MTech course can be conducted at any AICTE affiliated Institutes/Universities, IITs, NITs or private engineering institutes. The Institute of Defence Scientists & Technologists (IDST) will provide support to the institutes. The programme can be conducted in both online and offline formats.
The program has six specialised streams — combat technology, aero technology, naval technology, communication systems & sensors, directed energy technology and high energy materials technology. The students will also be provided opportunities to conduct their main thesis work in DRDO laboratories, defence PSUs & industries.
