New Delhi: In line with the government’s plan of setting up 100 new Sainik Schools across the country, the Sainik School Society (SSS) is in the process of developing an automated system for conducting e-counselling to be used for admission to Sainik Schools. This will be applicable to the new schools being set up as part of the government’s plan.
For this purpose, SSS will widely advertise for intimating students to apply for e-counselling along with timelines. Individual student applicants who get greater than the SSS’s qualifying marks will receive a link through email or mobile phone from time to time. Simultaneously, the new Sainik Schools will be provided with suitable access rights for providing category and gender-wise information as well as the number of vacancies.
Students who wish to take admission will have to register through the link provided at the web portal www.sainikschool.ncog.gov.in and verify their details.
They will be able to choose up to 10 schools as a choice of allocation. Following that, the system will assign students to schools based on their ranking and school preferences, and the results will be announced via the e-counselling portal.
The student must either accept the allocation or say whether they want to be considered for round two of counselling or if they don’t want to be considered at all. Students who have accepted/locked their choices will be informed of the dates for physical verification.
After physical verification of the students, the list of students who have locked in their choices will be available to the new Sainik Schools in real-time for any necessary database updates. The seats that were not filled after the due date & time of round-1 will be filled through round two of counselling while students who have not accepted/allotted seats in the first round will have the option to opt for the remaining seats in e-counselling’s round- 2.
Why is e-counselling being used?
- The e-counselling’s automated system will ensure full transparency in the admission process.
- The process will be less-expensive and user-friendly for schools, students and administrative authorities.
- It will also provide access for real-time monitoring of the entire process, and necessary action, as required at each stage.
