New Delhi: More than 100 academicians and social activists have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek assurance over the protection of child rights during the coronavirus pandemic.
Since many children are facing difficulties in coping with online education, therefore, the government needs to ensure them adequate supply of educational material as well as relief packages, according to the memorandum.
“If there is too much focus on online modes of teaching, then the majority of children especially from marginalized communities will be deprived of their right to education. We also need to ensure that children are protected from the risk of violence and abuse during the lockdown,” the memorandum read.
