Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) on Monday decided to cancel the preliminary examination for Accountant under Housing & Urban Development Department due to substantial errors in printing of Odia version of the questions.
The Commission cancelled the preliminary examination held on Sunday for both English and Odia version because of substantial errors in printing of Odia version of the questions.
Fresh date for preliminary examination will be announced shortly, the OSSC said in a notice, expressing regrets caused to the applicants.
The move came after a large number of aspirants expressed resentment stating that errors were found in Odia medium question papers for the preliminary examination for Accountant recruitment conducted by the OSSC. They demanded that fresh examination be held by the Commission.
Many aspirants who appeared for the examination held at different centres across the state on Sunday claimed that the question papers for Odia medium were full of mistakes. The questions set in Odia language were framed in such a way that the candidates found it extremely difficult to figure out, the candidates lamented.
Expressing dismay over the manner in which the questions were prepared, they claimed that it was very difficult to read and understand the questions for Odia medium.
Describing the episode as unfortunate, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also targeted the Odisha government accusing it of adopting a casual approach towards the fate of lakhs of youths and job aspirants.
Hitting out at the state government, senior JP leader Dillip Mallick said the way faulty question papers were prepared for the examination conducted by OSSC showed that the government is not serious about the future of the youths.
