Exam Questions On Dalit & Muslims Trigger Uproar In Tamil Nadu

Kendriya Vidyalaya Rejects Claim That It Had Drafted The Questions

New Delhi: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan on Saturday dismissed suggestions that an examination question on Dalits and Muslims, which has triggered a massive uproar in Tamil Nadu, was prepared by it.

Several political parties and organisations in the State held protests over drafting such a question, claiming it was of a Kendriya Vidyalaya. The paper was widely circulated on social media as well.

DMK Chief M K Stalin posted the paper on his twitter handle, saying he was shocked and appalled to see the class VI KV exam question which propagated caste discrimination and communal division.

However, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, in a statement issued on Saturday evening, said the question did not originate from any of the KVs in Tamil Nadu or Puducherry.

“No evidence has so far been brought to the notice of KVS which may establish that the question paper belongs to the KVs. Moreover, the pattern of the question paper in KVs is different from what is being circulated in media,” it said.

Besides, the deputy commissioner of KVS has reported that none of the 49 KVs of Chennai region has prepared such question paper, the statement added.
