Experts Throw Light On Food Habits That Help Cut Down Stress At Pariksha Pe Charcha 2025

Gut expert Shonali Sabherwal, wellness expert Rujuta Diwekar and nutrition influencer Revant Himatsingka share tips on nutrition, healthy food habits and what role foods play in managing stress  

NEW DELHI: Eating home-made food and less intake of sugary items and drinks help boost energy and tide over stress during examinations, said experts during the fourth episode of eighth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha 2025 on February 14.

Gut expert Shonali Sabherwal, wellness expert Rujuta Diwekar and nutrition influencer FoodFarmer aka Revant Himatsingka threw light on nutrition, healthy food habits and what role foods play in managing stress.

Emphasising that eating right and sleeping well help write the exams better, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged everyone to watch the fourth episode of Pariksha Pe Charcha.

Responding to a post on X by Ministry of Education, Modi said, “If you eat right, you will be able to write your exams better! The 4th episode of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ will be all about eating and sleeping well in the run up to exam prep. Participating in the programnme, Shonali Sabherwal stressed the need to eat home-cooked foods and to include millets in meals, especially breakfast. “Millets can support you for eight hours and also control sugar cravings,” she said.

Rujuta Diwekar, author, nutrition and wellness expert described eating peanuts as a good stress buster while emphasising that energy drinks can increase stress.

“Children often face digestive issues due to stress, leading to problems like loose motions or constipation. One fruit that works wonders in both cases is a banana, which is available everywhere…” Diwekar said.

She stressed the need to avoid packaged food that contributes to obesity and other related diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.

Health and nutrition influencer FoodFarmer aka Revant Himatsingka stressed the need to be aware of what one is eating and how it can affect health.

Sabherwal called for eating high-fibre food, which can boost good microbiota, and nuts.

Water intake and proper sleep was mentioned as an essential stress buster.

Diwekar highlighted the need for physical activity even during examinations, which can not only reduce stress, but will also improve posture.

Health experts suggested eating foods with natural sugars, such as sweet potatoes, beetroot, and carrots. These foods with natural sugars can help ‘keep mental state in a good condition’.
