Ahmedabad: After the completion of the first round on Thursday, the Admission Committee for Professional Under Graduate Medical Education Courses (ACPUGMEC) released the first merit list for admissions into Gujarat medical colleges, reported The Indian Express.
The fee payment option is available from Thursday, with candidates being able to submit their original documents from November 27 till December 5, and institutions awaiting approval and recognition to be included in the following rounds of admissions.
The committee declared admissions of 7,763 seats out of 24,398 candidates, including 5,298 seats for medical, 1,219 dental, 432 Ayurvedic, and 814 for Homeopathic courses, across several colleges in the state.
An admission committee official confirmed that the merit had “gone up by an average of 30-40 marks as compared to last year,” owing to high National Eligibility cum Entrance test (NEET) scores.
Students also remarked that after the NEET scores, the exam was comparatively easier, resulting in higher scores and percentiles.
The official further stated that cut-offs have increased in several institutes from 30 to 50 marks, and that “it only depends on demand and thus applications for that particular institute.”
