Chennai: Former Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar director, Sarit K Das has been appointed as an institute professor at the IIT-Madras.
Das, who is now serving as an institute chair professor and institute professor at the IIT Madras’ department of Mechanical Engineering, will now focus on the R&D efforts at the institute level.
The former director of the IIT-Ropar has been a visiting chair professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. Das has been honoured with Germany’s DAAD and Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship.
Recently, he was awarded the ‘IIT Madras Lifetime Achievement Research Award’ for his contributions in the field of research.
Das has over 350 research papers and four books to his credit. He was placed among the top 0.25 per cent scientists of the world by a recent Stanford University study.
