New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission held a special meeting here on Wednesday to discuss about the withheld civil service exams following coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent lockdown.
Keeping in view the nationwide lockdown due to the pandemic, the commission has decided to review the dates for all interviews, examinations and recruitment boards, where candidates are required to travel one from place to another.
The remaining Civil Services-2019 Personality Tests will be rescheduled and fresh dates announced only after the second phase of the nationwide lockdown ends.
Dates for the Civil Services-2020 (Prelim), Engineering Services (Main) and the Geologist Services (Main) Examinations had already been announced.
However, if there are any changes in the dates of these exams, then it will be notified on the commission’s official website, an official notification said.
The deferment notices for Combined Medical Services Examination, the Indian Economic Service and the Indian Statistical Service Examination 2020 have already been posted.
Dates for CAPF Exam 2020 will be notified on the UPSC website. The National Defence Academy (NDA-I) Examination has already been postponed till further notice. A decision on the NDA –II Examination will be posted on June 10, 2020.
Any other decision of the commission in respect of all the Examinations, Interviews and Recruitment Boards will be made available on the Commission’s official website, it added.
To assist the nation financially during the crisis, the Chairman and Members of the Union Public Service Commission have decided to forego 30 per cent of the basic pay received by them from the Commission for a period of one year, with effect from April, 2020.
Besides this, all the officers and staff members of the commission have donated their one-day salary to the PM CARES Fund.
