NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has extended the registration deadline for Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering (GATE) 2027.
Candidates can apply for the GATE exam without late fee till October 5, 2026 and till October 12, 2026 with late fee, according to the official website.
“Due to many requests received, the GATE 2027 regular registration has been extended to 5th October 2026 (without any late fee). However, candidates are highly recommended to complete their registrations at the earliest without waiting for the last day,” said a notification posted on the GATE 2027 official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
Once the application window closes, the exam-conducting body will open the correction window from October 14 to 21, 2026.
While filling the application form, applicants need to submit a few documents proving their eligibility for the exam such as category certificate (If applicable), passport-size photograph, signature, PwD certificate (If applicable) and a valid ID proof including Aadhar card, Voter ID card etc.
Candidates must note that any mismatch or noncompliance may lead to the rejection of the application form.

GATE aspirants can also register through unverified DigiLocker account. They can select the default ID proof during application filling process.
These candidates’ applications will be scrutinised after the registration deadline for necessary documents.
The original documents will be verified at the examination halls for the candidates registered with unverified DigiLocker accounts. It is recommended to the aspirants to use verified DigiLocker account for smoother experience at the examination venue.

The GATE 2027 will be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027.
