GATE Website Launched; Exams In February 2026

Candidates can register themselves through the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in from August 25

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) will conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 on February 7, 8, 14 and 15.

The IIT Guwahati has launched the GATE 2026 website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

The application process for the GATE 2026 exam will begin on August 25. The last date to apply for the exam is September 25, without late fees and October 6, with late fees.

GATE 2026 will be conducted for 30 test papers. Candidates can appear for one or up to two papers only.

The two papers need to be chosen from the list of combinations. Only one application form needs to be filled even if candidates appear for two test papers. GATE 2026 test papers will be in English.

The types of questions in GATE 2026 will include multiple choice questions (MCQ), multiple select questions (MSQ), and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. In MCQs, one out of four options is correct. In MSQs, one or more than one out of four options is/are correct; and for NAT questions, the answer must be keyed in using a virtual keypad.

GATE 2026 is being conducted by IISc and all IITs, on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

Valid GATE score can be used for seeking admission to master’s programmes and direct doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, or humanities; and doctoral programmes in relevant branches of engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts or humanities, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies.

GATE 2025 was held between February 1 and 16 and the result was declared on March 19. IIT Roorkee administered GATE last year.
