Bhubaneswar: Girls have yet again outshone boys in the annual Plus II Commerce examination, the result of which was announced on Wednesday.
Briefing mediapersons after announcing the results via video conferencing at the headquarters of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said 19,318 of 25,772 students have cleared the examination with a pass percentage of 74.95, which is 4.69% higher than last year (70.26).
Stating that the girls have again outperformed the boys, he said out of 16,648 boys, 12,215 have cleared the examination with a pass percentage of 73.37. On the other hand, 7103 out of 9124 girls have cleared the examination with a pass percentage of 77.8.
The minister said that a total of 6610 students have secured first division compared to 5629 last year. Besides, 4259 students have secured second division (3746 last year) and 8361 in third division. Apart from this, 40 students have secured more than 90% marks this year as compared to 31 last year.
In terms of district-wise performance, Nayagarh district has the highest pass percentage of 88.70 while Deogarh district is at the bottom with 34.17%.
The minister also informed that 29 higher secondary schools this year have 100% pass results compared to 25 last year while only two higher secondary schools have nil results.
He said the process for admission in the Plus III stream will begin from August 21. The students will have to download the application form from the CHSE website www.chseodisha.nic.in . The last date of the application is till the midnight of September 5.
