Bhubaneswar: KiiT International School (Kiit-IS) celebrated its 17th Foundation Day with great zeal and spirit among the students.
Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, who was the Chief Guest, stressed on the transformative power of a small group of individuals with the right mindset and creative spirit.
“The creative minority in a society can change society as a whole, human beings as a whole,” he felt.
Drawing parallels with the freedom struggle, he noted that the leaders who spearheaded the historic movement constituted only 5% of the population.
Lauding the KIIT and KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta as an exemplary figure, the Goa Governor said that India requires more visionaries like him to help establish the country as a global educational hub.
Pillai stressed that true education goes beyond imparting knowledge and should foster humility while creating a knowledge-driven society. He also expressed his admiration for the remarkable growth and development of KIIT, and urged the university to embrace the values espoused by Swami Vivekananda, who viewed education as the realisation of perfection within individuals.
Dr Samanta said that despite being only 17 years old, KiiT International School’s achievements are manifold.
The only school in the country dedicated to imparting education to special children, KiiT-IS is also the only school in eastern India to be affiliated with three boards.
The Foundation Day celebrations, which included the investiture ceremony, was attended by KIIT and KISS President Saswati Bal, Chairperson of KiiT International School Dr Mona Lisa Bal, Principal Dr Sanjay Kumar Suar, and Head of International Curriculum Rory Mcnamara, among others.
