Govt-Aided TN School Under Fire For Conducting Class XI Entrance Exams

Chennai: School Education Department officials in Tamil Nadu came down heavily on a government-aided school that conducted an entrance exam for Class XI admissions on Monday.

More than 75 students in school uniform, besides their parents, had congregated at Little Flower Higher Secondary School at Four Roads here for conducting the exam that began at 9 am.

The students, who had recently cleared Class X, were informed about the test via WhatsApp, reported Edex Live.

The state government had announced that all students of Classes X and XI would be passed without exams this year due to COVID-19.

However, on seeing students in uniform in large numbers, the CEO’s office at Salem Collectorate was alerted by the locals.

The School Education Department officials rushed to the campus to see the students, seated in rows, were being distributed question papers, while parents were seen waiting outside the school gate.

Later, the officials cancelled the exam and warned the school management of serious action.

According to the parents, the state government should issue clear instructions to schools to not put students at risk of contracting the deadly virus.

An inquiry was ordered into the incident by CEO Ganesamoorthy.
