Gujarat Government To Seek Stakeholder’s Opinion On Reopening Schools

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that his department will take everyone’s opinion before making a decision on reopening schools in the state, reported The Indian Express.

According to the minister, the health department’s opinion will be paramount in the decision to reopen schools. “In the coming days, we will seek opinion and suggestions from parents, students, owners of schools, teachers and prominent educationists. The health department’s opinion will be important in this regard,” the minister said in an interview to reporters in Gandhinagar on Monday.

He also said that though the closure of schools and colleges due to the pandemic can’t last forever, online mode of education and exams have been conducted by most educational institutions for the current academic year.

“It’s been six months since the schools are shut due to the coronavirus. We have to open the schools someday. But, the state government will not take such a crucial decision on its own,” Chudasama said.

The matter will be discussed with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and the entire cabinet before taking a final call on reopening schools, he added.
