Guwahati: Union home minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the second medical college and hospital here during his visit to Assam. Shah also inaugurated the state’s nine law institutes.
According to the officials, the establishment of the medical college is a merger between Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital and Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Chest Hospital which will cost around Rs 755 crore, reported ABP Education.
State’s chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, health minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma, Union food processing minister Rameshwar Teli and others were present when the projects were launched.
As per the proposal, the law colleges will be set up in Diphu, Silchar, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Nalbari, Rangia and Raha.
