Cuttack: With the COVID pandemic severely hampering the normal functioning of educational institutions, many students are struggling to cope with the abrupt shift to online mode. Here are some steps to consider to ensure effective learning from online classes:
1) Interactive sessions: Students are likely to get distracted when staring at screens for a long time. To avoid monotony, teachers should hold Q & A sessions, or assign interesting activities to ensure active participation.
2) Conducive environment: Given the absence of a school atmosphere, a suitable study environment is important such as a comfortable desk, notebooks to take notes, and ensuring a stable internet connection.
3) Small breaks: To avoid exhaustion from online lectures, students should take breaks, doing small exercises and eating light snacks, for a productive learning process.
4) Alternative methods: Due to online learning not being available to every student, teachers should provide recorded lectures or soft copies of notes of the lectures, to ensure that no student is left behind.
5) Patience and adaptation: Students shouldn’t be pressurised and should be allowed to go at their own pace. Patience and adaptation are required from both sides to truly glean the advantages of online classes.
