Speaking about the development, the ICAI president clarified that such postponements are taken only when holding exams is not feasible on the ground. “Wherever there are disturbances, we defer the exam. Once the atmosphere becomes peaceful, we are very keen to conduct our exam in the possible time frame,” he said, indicating that new dates for the Kathmandu centre will be notified as soon as conditions improve.

The decision comes in the wake of ongoing protests in the country following the government’s temporary ban on social media platforms.

This marks the second disruption of ICAI exams this month. Earlier, papers scheduled on September 2 and 3 in Punjab were postponed due to severe flooding across several districts. While the exams in Punjab resumed from September 6, revised dates for the missed papers, along with those for Kathmandu, are still awaited.

The institute has confirmed that the postponement applies only to the Kathmandu centre. Examinations at all other centres in India and abroad are being held as per schedule, and students outside Kathmandu have been instructed to report according to the timings as stipulated on their admit cards.
