NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for submitting fresh admission applications for the July 2026 session.
Eligible students can submit their online admission forms until October 13, 2026, said an official notification.
The extension applies to programmes offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online modes.

Students who are yet to submit their application forms can do so until October 13.
Certificate and semester-based programmes excluded
The university has advised eligible students to complete the admission process within the revised deadline, which is applicable to all notified programmes offered through ODL and online modes. Semester-based programmes and certificate programmes are not included.

- Scanned signature
- Valid identity proof
- Educational qualification certificates and marksheets
- Category certificate, if applicable
- PwD certificate, if applicable
- Relevant documents required for the selected programme
Students planning to take admission for the July 2026 session should check the programme-specific requirements before submitting their application forms.
They should also ensure that all required details and documents are entered correctly in the application.
How to apply for IGNOU fresh admissions for the July 2026 session
- Go to the official IGNOU Samarth admission portal: samarth.edu.in.
- If you are registering for the first time, click on the fresh admission option.
- Register online by entering the required personal and contact details.
- If you have already registered, you can use the same credentials to log in.
- Sign in using the credentials generated during registration.
- Select the desired program and fill in the application form.
- Upload the required documents in the suggested format.
- Pay the prescribed application and admission fee online.
- Submit the form and save or download the confirmation page for reference.
Assignment deadline for December Term-End Examination extended
Meanwhile, the IGNOU has also extended the last date for submission of assignments (both hard and soft copies) for the Term-End Examination, December 2026, for both ODL and Online Programmes, including GOAL and EVBB, up to October 31 2026, said a separate notification.
