Kolkata: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has launched an online one-year MBA programme for executives amid the lockdown.
The 14th batch or the ‘Covidian batch’ was started on April 20. It has a strength of 68 students from 20 different industrial sectors with an average work experience of 8.33 years, the institute informed.
“The admission to the programme had been completed several months ago before the onset of the pandemic. Since this is a one-year programme, the course had to be started in time. Unlike the summer school, we did not want to put the programme on hold,” an official was quoted as saying by The Telegraph.
Before starting the classes, the institute asked the students regarding their compatibility with the online classes. Following that, the teachers started taking classes on the licensed version of Zoom, a video conferencing app.
At present, classes for the first term has begun and once the situation restores, the institute will plan on-campus classes, the official added.
