The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) could start offering PG degree programmes from the 2020-21 academic session.
The institute is likely to offer MA in Health Communication Governance, Journalism and New Media, some news reports said.
Exactly a year ago, the Ministry of Human Resource and Development had issued a letter of intent to IIMC granting it deemed university status. With the tag, IIMC had become eligible to offer degree-level programmes. At present, it offers diploma programmes only.
As per reports, IIMC will conduct a separate admission process for the master degree programmes. The initial intake capacity could be 20 students and the New Delhi campus could be the first one to roll out the MA programmes.
At present, the institute has six campuses across the country — Dhenkanal, Jammu, Kottayam, Amravati and Aizawl.
The deemed university status would also help IIMC to award MPhil and PhD degrees.
