NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) will be transformed into a world-class media university, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw has said.
Participating as the chief guest in the IIMC’s 56th convocation at Mahatma Gandhi Manch, IIMC, New Delhi, Vaishnaw said that the institution’s next phase would feature a globally competitive curriculum and stronger industry ties to align with the evolving media landscape.
Vaishnaw, who is also the Chancellor of the IIMC, highlighted the dynamic nature of the media industry and the importance of adaptability.

In total 478 students of the 2023-24 batch of IIMC New Delhi and its five regional campuses at Dhenkanal, Aizawl, Amravati, Kottayam, and Jammu received their Post Graduate Diploma certificates and 36 outstanding students got medals and cash awards for academic excellence.
Vaishnaw underscored the ongoing transformation in the media sector, stating, “Change is constant, and we must absorb and adapt to stay ahead.”
The Union Minister also encouraged the graduates to approach their careers with dedication and perseverance, reminding them, “Wherever you work, always remember—nation first, always first. Focus on contributing to the country, and everything else will follow.”
Addressing the gathering, IIMC Vice-Chancellor Anupama Bhatnagar highlighted the institution’s focus on staying updated with industry advancements. “The IIMC continuously updates its curriculum to meet modern challenges and evolving professional demands,” she said.
