Bhubaneswar: IIT Bhubaneswar is set to become the nerve center of Odisha’s semiconductor ambitions, with the state government announcing a Rs 452 crore National Industry Co‑Development Hub on Integrated Power Electronics in collaboration with the premier institute.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the state will contribute Rs 125 crore to the project, which aims to accelerate research and commercialization in power electronics. “The hub will bridge the gap between academic research and industry by driving commercial applications of advanced technologies,” Majhi told reporters.
The announcement comes as Odisha intensifies its push to build a semiconductor and advanced technology ecosystem. The project, unveiled alongside Majhi’s participation in Semicon India 2026, is seen as a strategic step in positioning the state as a hub for semiconductor manufacturing and allied technologies.
