Bhubaneswar: A total of 176 students in MTech, 110 in MSc and 44 in PhD programmes took admission in the current academic session at the IIT-Bhubaneswar that commenced on August 2.
To welcome the new batch, an Orientation programme was held for them on August 6.
IIT-Bhubaneswar director, Prof RV Raja Kumar addressed the students, which was followed by an address by Dean, Academic Affairs, Dr PR Sahu at the Community Centre online.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Raja Kumar complimented the students and reiterated that the MTech and PhD students constitute an important class of students who have done well in their Bachelors, and come to the IIT for further specialisation in their domain. Most of them either join in R&D organizations or educational institutions of the country and thus directly adds to the R&D pool of the country.
He further added that the pandemic posed many challenges to educational Institutes on all fronts across the globe.
