Panaji: Despite residents’ protest and their demands, the proposed Indian Institute of Technology campus in the state’s Sattari taluka will come up, says Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Sawant said he had taken a tour of the site in Shel-Maulim where the premier institute is proposed to come up.
“We are ready to discuss demands of the locals. The project has not been scrapped. Formalities for construction are going on,” the Goa CM was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
Sawant also said that a police outpost was coming up in the village as part of the IIT project.
However, residents of the area have been protesting at the site over the past four months against the project and stalling work, according to officials.
