NEW DELHI: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 examination schedule has been released by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the organising institute for this year’s exam.
As per an official notification, GATE 2026 will be conducted over two weekends — February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026 — in computer-based test (CBT) mode. The GATE 2026 admit card release date is likely to be out this week.
The examination will be held in two sessions each day: the forenoon session from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and the afternoon session from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
GATE 2026 will cover multiple engineering, science, and interdisciplinary papers, with different subjects scheduled across the four days.
On February 7, papers such as Agricultural Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Geomatics Engineering, Mathematics, Mining Engineering, Textile Engineering, and XE/XL will be held in the forenoon session, while Aerospace Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, and Humanities and Social Sciences will be conducted in the afternoon.
The Computer Science and Engineering papers are scheduled across two days, with CS-1 and Statistics on the forenoon session of February 8, followed by CS-2, Environmental Science and Engineering, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering in the afternoon.

On February 14, the forenoon session will include Civil Engineering-1, Electrical Engineering, and Production and Industrial Engineering, while the afternoon session will feature Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering-2, Mechanical Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering.
The final day, February 15, will see Electronics and Communication Engineering in the forenoon and Architecture and Planning, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence in the afternoon.
GATE 2026 scores will be used for admission to PG courses such as MTech, MS, and PhD in IITs, NITs, and other institutions, as well as for recruitment by public sector undertakings (PSUs).
