Guwahati: In a list prepared by Prof John PA Loannidis and his team from Stanford University for the world’s top two per cent scientists, 22 researchers from IIT Guwahati have been featured as well, reported Hindustan Times.
A statement by IIT Guwahati revealed that over 1,00,000 scientists, boosting progress in their respective fields through published research manuscripts, and influencing the productivity of other researchers were included in the list, published in the journal PLOS Biology.
Institute Director TG Sitharam, and faculty members from Departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Electrical and Electronics, were included in the list for lifetime contributions to their specific fields of research and for their published research citations for the year 2019.
Congratulating all 22 scientists for the achievement, Sitharam added that the recognition from the world’s top two per cent Scientists List has placed the institute “in the global map of science and has brought great pride to the Institute.”
