NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will start the registration process for the Joint Admission Test for Master’s (JAM) for the academic session 2026 on September 5.
Those interested can fill in the IIT JAM 2026 application form on the official website for the IIT JAM 2026 or JOAPS portal is jam2026.iitb.ac.in. The last date for the application is October 12, 2025.
Candidates seeking admission to MSc and Integrated MSc–PhD programmes at IITs and IISc must fill in the online JAM 2026 registration form. The exam is slated for February 15, 2026, in two shifts.
There are around 3000 seats in postgraduate programmes in 22 IITs for the 2026-27 academic year.
IIT Bombay has also released the tentative schedule of important dates, paper-wise session timings, and examination city zones.
Eligibility criteria
To apply for IIT JAM 2026, candidates must either possess a Bachelor’s degree or be currently enrolled in the final year of their undergraduate studies.
There is no upper age limit for eligibility. However, applicants must ensure that they complete their undergraduate programme by the time of admission and submit valid proof of graduation within the deadline set by the respective admitting institute.

Application fees
The IIT JAM 2026 application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
Female students or those belonging to SC, ST, or PwD categories applying for one test paper must pay Rs 1000 while it is Rs 2000 for all other categories.
For two test papers, the fee is Rs 1350 for reserved categories and Rs 2700 for others.
Additionally, a Rs 300 fee applies for changes in examination city, test paper, category, or gender, along with any applicable fee differences.
Candidates can make these changes before November 10, 2025, through the application portal.
Payments must be made online via net banking, debit and credit card, or UPI. After successful payment, applicants can download their completed form with payment details.
