Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur conducted a six-day virtual course on Laser Matter Interaction recently.
The focus of the programme was on biomedical and additive manufacturing applications of laser technology. Laser forming, casting, engraving and additive manufacturing were the topics that were covered, reported ABP Education.
The candidates who took part in the course were able to link between advanced materials and advanced manufacturing techniques.
The programme was coordinated by J Ramkumar and Amandeep Singh from the department of mechanical engineering at IIT Kanpur. The programme head, IIT Guwahati professor Uday Dixit delivered the opening talk on laser-based fabrication and machining processes, the report said.
Speakers from premier national institutes like IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Jammu, IIT Indore, IIT Palakkad, RRCAT Pune and IIT Kanpur gave valuable insights to the participants.
