IIT Madras Pravartak To Train Engineering Students In Manufacturing, Production

IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has forged a tie-up with SWAYAM Plus for the training programme.

HYDERABAD: IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has forged a tie-up with SWAYAM Plus, the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform of Ministry of Education, to train engineering students with mechanical, manufacturing, and production streams in industry-ready technical skills.

The last date to apply for the training programme is October 10, 2024. Interested students can register for the programme, scheduled to be held from October 14 to 26 on the IIT Madras campus, by clicking the link iitmpravartak.org.in/digital_mfg_practice. The students need to pay a fee of Rs. 6,000 and GST.

This programme will provide hands-on training. Accommodation will be provided to the students on the IIT Madras campus at a cost of Rs. 650 per day, which includes food and stay. Students can make accommodation requests on or before October 10, 2024.

This course offers a practical approach to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world manufacturing processes. Skills such as simple quantification, back-of-the-envelope calculations, quick engineering drawings, use of the right tools, classification/taxonomy fundamentals and systems approach to planning and execution will be introduced and strengthened.

Placement assistance

Placement assistance will be provided to students who excel in the programme. Pravartak will select the students for the training programme to impart industry-ready skills.

Course content

The course content includes practice in 3D modelling, 3D printing, CAM, CNC programming and CNC machining. Also, the course provides knowledge on the stages of product development, prototyping and testing.
