IIT Placements: Students Get More Jobs, Highest Pay Package Rs 2.15 Crore

New Delhi: IIT Guwahati, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee witnessed significant milestones in Phase 1 of their campus placements for the 2021-22 academic year on Wednesday, December 1. Some had record placements for the year.

IIT Madras

  • IIT Madras placement offers increased by 43% on day one’s first session.
  • A total of 176 offers were made by 34 companies during day one’s session 1.1, which is higher than any of the preceding academic years.
  • During the preceding academic year of 2020-21, 123 offers were made by 22 companies at the end of Session 1.1.
  • A total of 11 international offers were received from four companies by the end of session 1.1.
  • Further, during the current 2021-22 Academic Year, IIT Madras students received 231 PPOs, taking the total number of jobs offered to 407.
  • The main recruiters for this year’s first session include Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Bajaj Auto, Bain and Company, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Boston Consulting Group, JP Morgan Chase & Co, and McKinsey.

IIT Guwahati

  • A total of 200 offers were made by 38 companies on day one’s sessions 1.1 and 1.2 (as of 4 pm), as against 158 offers made by 43 companies at the end of session 1.1 and 1.2 during the last academic year (2020-21) across IT/ Software Development Engineer, data science, member technical staff, quant, core engineer, algorithmic trader, etcetera job profiles.
  • Multiple numbers of domestic offers above Rs 1.1 crore and one international offer of Rs 2.0 crore were made at the end of session 1.2.
  • The big recruiters for this year’s first two sessions include Uber, JP Morgan Chase, Schlumberger, Graviton, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Texas Instrument, Bajaj, Qualcomm, Goldman Sachs among others. 

IIT Roorkee

  • A total of 219 students received pre-placement offers as compared to the placement session 2020-21 where 154 students received the offers.
  • One student bagged a Rs 2.15 crore international salary, 3 students received Rs 1.30 crore domestic salary, 11 students got more than Rs 1 crore salary whereas 13 international offers were made on the 1st day till 2 pm.
  • The total number of offers received, including PPOs, is 450.
  • Recruiters included Alphagrep Securities Private Limited, Amazon, Apple, APT Portfolio Pvt. Ltd., Bajaj Auto Limited, Cairn Oil & Gas, Codenation, Da Vinci Derivatives, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, Google, Graviton Research Capital LLP, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Infurnia Technologies, Intel Technologies, ITC Ltd., Jaguar Land Rover, JPMC Quant, Mercedes Benz etcetera.
