IIT Roorkee Wins GRIHA Trophy For Bagdogra Airport’s Terminal Building Design

Dehradun: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee secured the top prize at a contest organised by the GRIHA Council for designing the Bagdogra Airport’s terminal building.

The students of IIT Roorkee promoted the concept of green buildings through their unique design. The institution bagged the GRIHA trophy and was richer by a sum of Rs 75,000. The students were awarded at a virtual felicitation ceremony during the 62nd National Association of Students of Architecture Convention in Bengaluru, reported ABP Education.

The Union Education Ministry congratulated the students of IIT Roorkee on Twitter. “Students from @iitroorkee bagged the first prize at @GRIHACouncil’s 62nd National Association of Students of Architecture Convention. The winning team included Yash H Bharani, Avinash Garg, Rohan Khedekar, CS Sethulakshmi, Rohan Kumar, and Mukul Chaudhary,” it tweeted.

According to GRIHA Council CEO Sanjay Seth, the collaboration with National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA) for the GRIHA Trophy was essential to cultivate a sense of good passive design, understanding of local materials, integration of renewable energy and resource-efficient planning among architectural students, the website reported.
