New Delhi: Students from Jammu and Kashmir, who are enrolled in technical institutes across the country, can now undertake a month-long internship programme at IIT Guwahati.
The AICTE and IIT Guwahati on Friday signed an MoU under which the latter will enrol 100 meritorious students from Jammu and Kashmir in batches of 25, for internship at IIT Guwahati from May 1, 2020, to May 30, 2020.
The objective of the MoU is to provide an exposure to the youth from J&K to the academic culture at higher learning institutes of India, said a government statement.
These students are enrolled to various institutes affiliated to AICTE under the ‘Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir Students’. The scholarship scheme is managed by the AICTE.
The MoU was signed during the IIT Council meeting here on Friday.
Three other IITs at Kanpur, Raipur and Hyderabad have expressed their interest in such an MoU, the statement said.
AICTE chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe said AICTE will reach out to all IITs, NITs and IIMs to follow suit so that maximum number of students from J&K get can get exposure to the campus vibes of the premier institutes.
