New Delhi: The new campus of the National Fire Service College was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah in Nagpur on Thursday.
The college, running under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs, offers four-year Bachelor level course in Fire Engineering and a short and long-term course in Emergency Management, Medical Life Support Management and Disaster Management.
The new campus is spread over 42 acres, matching international standard infrastructure. The Home Minister appealed the states to make use of expertise in the National Fire Service College in Nagpur and take the initiative in making the fire brigade service as an independent service in their states.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Academy:
Amit Shah also laid the foundation stone for the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Academy which will be established near Suradevi village of Nagpur. He said about 5,000 personnel will be trained in the field of disaster management by this academy each year.
NDRF director general S N Pradhan, talking about the academy earlier, had said that it will boast one of its infrastructure in the world. The academy will have a village and a town set up to simulate flooding conditions to train personnel for rescue operations. High rise rescue, hilly region rescue, among others, will be simulated on the academy campus as well.
