Jamia Millia Islamia’s ‘Evident’ Team Wins Toycathon 2021
New Delhi: A three-member team from Jamia Millia Islamia’s (JMI) Civil Engineering department emerged the winners in the Toycathon 2021 competition. The contest is an inter-ministerial initiative organised by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell with support from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
BTech Civil 2nd year students, Sarthak Kumar, Nikhil Yadav and Alziyan Ansari’s team ‘Evident’ designed a mathematical board game for above 12-year-old children. JMI’s Civil Engineering HoD, Professor Shamshad Ahmad mentored the team.
The varsity’s vice-chancellor Professor Najma Akhtar congratulated the winners reminded them that since its inception the institute has been playing an important role in nation building.
Over 1.2 lakh students from across the country registered and submitted more than 17,000 ideas for the Toycathon 2021. Following a grand finale of three days, only 117 ideas were finally chosen from a total of 1,567 ideas.
