New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh urged the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to establish the National Science & Technology Research University.
According to Singh, who also holds Minister of State PMO and Minister of State Earth Sciences portfolios, India has attained top third global ranking in terms of research publications and global number 9 in the quality of research publications in the world’s reputed and recognised SCI Journals. Singh was addressing the scientists and officers at Technology Bhawan on Saturday.
Despite India’s rise in the global ranking in quality research from 14th to 9the spot, the minister said that a concerted effort should be made to make it to the top 5 when the country celebrates 75 years of independence.
Singh also discussed the launch of 7,500 STI based start-ups to coincide with India’s 75th year of independence.
