The Odisha government has launched a five‑day hands‑on training programme to equip vocational students with job‑ready skills in emerging technical and hospitality sectors.
Organised by the School and Mass Education Department from 12 to 16 October, the programme covers drone piloting, audio‑visual production and catering management. More than 170 Class XII students and vocational lecturers are participating.
Training Across Two Centres
Sessions are being held at the Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC) in the Odisha capital and the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Bhubaneswar. CTTC Senior Manager KM Rajan welcomed participants and assured institutional support.
Students at CTTC have come from districts including Anugola, Deogarh, Japur, Kataka, Baleshwar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapada and Puri, while the IHM programme has drawn participants from Bhadrak, Koraput, Kandhamal, Khordha and Ganjam.
Stress On Practical Skills
Additional Director Binita Senapati underlined the importance of vocational education in improving employability. “Practical skills are essential to equip students for the job market,” she said.
Deputy Director Jitendra Nayak highlighted the collaboration with CTTC and IHM as a step towards strengthening skill‑based learning.
The initiative reflects Odisha’s push to expand vocational horizons and prepare students for industry‑linked opportunities.
